The Islamic Association of Raleigh (IAR) provides marriage and Nikah services for Muslim couples in accordance with Islamic guidelines and North Carolina law. Couples must obtain a valid North Carolina marriage license before the ceremony and submit identification for the bride, groom, bride’s Wali, and two Muslim male witnesses. IAR requires the relevant documentation to be submitted before the appointment, and the Nikah is conducted in a designated prayer space based on the expected number of guests. After the ceremony, IAR sends the original marriage license paperwork to the Register of Deeds for final processing, while the couple requests the official marriage certificate from the court. IAR also offers matrimonial services, marriage coaching, counseling referrals, social services, cemetery services, and educational programs for the Triangle Muslim community.
