Masjid As-Salaam in Jersey City provides Nikah and marriage services to help Muslim couples complete their Islamic marriage process. Couples are required to obtain a marriage license from the county court, schedule an appointment with the masjid staff and Imam, and provide valid photo identification or passports for everyone signing the marriage contract. The groom, bride, bride’s legal guardian, and two male witnesses must be present for the process. The masjid also lists a $100 administrative fee for the service. Established in the early 1980s and incorporated as a nonprofit religious organization in 1997, Masjid As-Salaam serves the Muslim community in Jersey City’s Journal Square area through religious, social, cultural, educational, and charitable activities.
