The Islamic Institute of Minnesota provides marriage services through three state-certified volunteers who can conduct legally recognized marriage ceremonies. Couples must obtain a marriage license from the county where they reside before the ceremony. The marriage can be performed at a location of the couple’s choice, although the institute prefers ceremonies to take place at one of its mosques. Advance planning is recommended, and there is no required fee, although donations to the mosque are appreciated. For wedding gatherings, the institute offers event spaces at AsSalam Mosque in Maplewood and the Burnsville Mosque. The Islamic Institute of Minnesota also provides family and premarital counseling, religious and legal family guidance, and educational seminars on family matters.
