Nikah Service at Makki Masjid in Brampton, Ontario is an Islamic marriage service conducted by an Imam who is a licensed marriage officer, ensuring the Nikah is both Islamically valid and legally registered in Ontario. To have the ceremony performed, couples must obtain a marriage licence from City Hall beforehand, provide proper identification, a Wali (guardian) for the bride, two adult Muslim male witnesses, and agree on the Mahr (marital gift) in advance. The Imam signs and completes the licence paperwork during the ceremony and returns it to the Registrar General, with the service provided at the mosque (or occasionally another mosque) when Islamic etiquette and requirements are met; a fee is charged ($500, going to the masjid) and no food service facilities are offered on the premises.
