Masjid Al Mumineen in Indianapolis, Indiana, offers Islamic marriage (Nikah) services for couples and families. Ceremonies can be performed either at the masjid or at an off-site location by one of its authorized marriage officiants. The basic Islamic requirements include a Muslim bride and groom (or a Christian or Jewish bride, where applicable), a Wali (guardian), two Muslim male witnesses or one male and two female witnesses, and an agreed-upon Mahr (marriage gift). If the bride's Wali is unavailable due to death or other serious circumstances, the Imam may serve in that role. The masjid's Imams are legally recognized marriage officiants in Indiana and can solemnize civil marriages. Couples are encouraged to obtain a marriage license from the Marion County City-County Building before the Nikah.
