Masjid Ashty offers Islamic marriage contracts at its Prayer Center by appointment. Couples must provide a valid marriage license from Cook County, or notify the center in advance if they live outside the county. Both the bride and groom are required to bring valid photo identification, while the bride must be accompanied by her father or guardian. Two Muslim male witnesses are required to sign the marriage contract, and the Mahr must be agreed upon before the ceremony. The Islamic marriage ceremony is held at least 24 hours after the civil marriage license is obtained. There is no fee for the Islamic marriage ceremony, although donations are welcomed. The Prayer Center also offers Islamic divorce services and religious counseling for social, family, grief, and marital matters.
