The Funeral Service at Abu Ubaydah Islamic Center is designed to support families during the difficult time of a loved one’s passing by providing a comprehensive Janazah support system rooted in Islamic teachings. The center assists with essential arrangements such as coordinating with hospitals or authorities, and works in collaboration with other mosques in the Greater Toronto Area to facilitate services like ritual washing (ghusl), shrouding (kafan), and providing a wooden coffin in accordance with local laws. Families may also need to involve close relatives or friends to help with the preparation of the body.
The service covers all key aspects of burial, including transportation, documentation, grave arrangements, and obtaining the death certificate, ensuring the entire process is handled respectfully and in compliance with both Islamic and legal requirements. Additionally, the mosque offers a membership-based funeral contribution system to help ease the financial burden on families during bereavement.
