Details:
Family Counseling at the Islamic Center of the Capital District (ICCD) focuses on structured premarital counseling to help couples build a strong, faith-based foundation for marriage. Led by Imam Abdul-Rahman Yaki, the program includes a minimum of five one-hour sessions, with an optional sixth session if needed. Long-distance couples may attend virtually, while couples living in New York State must attend at least two sessions in person. Counseling covers the Islamic understanding of marriage, marriage and divorce fiqh, managing expectations and responsibilities, healthy communication, personal growth, conflict resolution, and developing a shared vision for marriage. Parents are required to attend the first session, and counseling should be completed at least one month before the Nikah.
