Shahada (Declaration of Faith in Islam) is a service provided by the Islamic Society of Tuscaloosa for individuals who have decided to embrace Islam. The service helps new Muslims formally make the Shahada, the declaration of belief in the oneness of Allah and acceptance of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as His final prophet. The mosque asks those interested to contact the committee in advance and recommends completing a full-body wash before the ceremony. Visitors should also bring identification for verification. During the visit, the Imam discusses the individual’s decision and explains some fundamental principles of Islam. New Muslims are encouraged to attend the mosque regularly, where they can learn how to pray, become familiar with Islamic teachings, and receive support from the wider Muslim community.
