The Weekend School (Muslim Family Academy) at Masjid Vaughan is an Islamic weekend education program for children and teens aged 5–17, designed to cultivate love of Allah, the Prophet ﷺ, and the Qur’an while building essential Islamic knowledge and identity.
It runs from late September through June, with Sunday morning classes for younger children (ages 5–10) focusing on basics like Qaida, short sura memorization, Prophet stories, Islamic literacy, manners, and Arabic writing, and Saturday morning sessions for older students (ages 11–17) covering Qur’an reading, Tajweed, Seerah, identity and belief seminars, life skills, Fiqh topics, and Tafsir of select Suras.
The curriculum emphasizes both personal obligatory knowledge and the confidence to live as observant Muslims in a North American context, and the program is offered by trained instructors as a community project of the Risalah Foundation.
